Jamshedpur, January 2, 2025 (Tanweer Ahsan) : On the occasion of New Year, the language and educational awareness organization “Urdu Bhavan” organized an event last evening at the residence of the organization’s treasurer, Syed Sajid Parvez, in Jawahar Nagar. The program celebrated the legendary Urdu poet Mirza Ghalib, during which a cake was cut in his memory, and a delightful evening of poetry recitation was held. The Chief Guest of the event was Dr. Mohammad Reyaz, Principal of Karim City College, while the Director of Daya Hospital, Mango, Haji Mumtaz Ahmed, was the Guest of Honor. Haji Mumtaz Ahmed was felicitated by Urdu Bhavan for his remarkable services to public health during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. The honor was presented by Chief Guest Dr. Mohammad Reyaz and Urdu Bhavan President Dr. Hasan Imam Malik.

In his welcome speech, Dr. Hasan Imam Malik expressed gratitude to the attendees and emphasized the organization’s commitment to promoting Urdu literature in the city. He also extended thanks to Tata Steel for its efforts in preserving the region’s culture and literature. The event was presided over by senior poet Anwar Adeeb. Other notable poets, including Hasrat Nizami, Safdar Haroon, Waliullah Wali, Safiullah Safi, Saklain Mushtaq, Farhan Khan Farhan, Saddam Ghani, Gauhar Aziz, and Anwar Adeeb, recited ghazals. The Chief Guest, Dr. Mohammad Reyaz, addressed the gathering and expressed optimism about the bright future of Urdu literature, given the talent of the emerging generation of poets. The event was skillfully anchored by Gauhar Aziz, and a vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Syed Zahid Parvez. The program arrangements were managed by Syed Sajid Parvez.
