Jamshedpur, May 12, 2025:
A major controversy has erupted after the Dainik Bhaskar news website allegedly used the term “Muslim Call Girl” in a report involving a deceased woman. The phrase has triggered strong condemnation from the Muslim community, who have termed it derogatory, communal, and disrespectful. Reyaz Sharif, General Secretary of All India Milli Council, Jharkhand, filed a formal complaint at Bistupur Police Station against Bhaskar’s portal editor Bhawanand Jha and reporter Mannan Pandey. The complaint accuses them of deliberately targeting a particular religious group and using sensational language that disrespects the deceased woman and incites communal tension.

According to the complaint dated May 12, 2025, the news report used inflammatory terms like “Muslim” and “Call Girl” to describe the victim, with an alleged intent to defame the Muslim community and mislead society. The language used, Sharif claims, reflects communal hatred, violates the dignity of women, and promotes religious animosity. The complaint argues that such reporting violates constitutional values and provisions of the Indian Penal Code and the Information Technology Act. The applicant has demanded strict legal action against the editor and the reporter responsible for publishing the article. The matter has also been forwarded to the Cyber Crime Police Station, East Singhbhum, for further investigation. Police officials have confirmed receipt of the complaint and stated that appropriate action will follow based on the findings.
