In a major operation, the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Parul Singh, conducted a surprise raid at the Kanti Hotel near Sakchi Howrah Bridge following a tip-off regarding an alleged prostitution racket. However, what emerged was a startling twist — three students, all above 18 years of age, were found in a compromising position.
Despite the initial fears of a larger criminal operation, it was revealed that the students were not involved in any illegal activity. Given that all individuals were adults, they were let off with a stern warning. Hotel management was also cautioned for their lax approach and issued a strict warning to ensure no such incidents occur in the future.
This raid has sparked discussions around the rising trend of such activities in the city’s hotels, raising concerns about the growing influence of unsafe environments for young students. The administration has assured that they will continue their crackdown to maintain law and order in the area.
