Jamshedpur : The police revealed a bike theft ring operating in the Mango area over the past few months. On Monday, five individuals were arrested in connection with the thefts, including two minors. The minors have been sent to a juvenile correction home, while the other three thieves have been placed under judicial custody.
In a press conference, the City SP stated that the police received information about four youths riding two motorcycles. When they saw the police, they attempted to flee by turning their motorcycles around but were eventually caught. Upon questioning, they confessed that both motorcycles were stolen. Based on their information, another stolen motorcycle from Mango was recovered from Raju’s house in Golmuri. One of the gang members, Aftab Ali, was recently released from jail three months ago and had since formed a gang to steal bikes across the city. The gang had also committed thefts in the Jubilee Park and Sakchi areas. They typically targeted older bikes, which they sold for as little as ₹5,000 to ₹10,000. The police believe that further interrogations during remand could lead to the uncovering of more thefts linked to this gang.
