Jamshedpur, December 13: Jamshedpur FC continued their stellar form at home with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Punjab FC at JRD Tata Sports Complex here on Friday. A sensational brace from Javi Siverio proved decisive, as the Men of Steel notched their fifth home win of the Indian Super League 2024-25 season under Khalid Jamil. The first half unfolded as a closely contested affair. Mohammed Sanan dazzled the crowd with his runs, cutting through Punjab FC’s defence, only to see his shot narrowly miss the target. The breakthrough came deep into added time, courtesy of a brilliantly executed set-piece. Shubham Sarangi’s long throw found Stephen Eze, whose aerial header set up Javi Hernandez to flick the ball to Siverio. The striker made no mistake, sending the ball into the bottom left corner to give Jamshedpur FC a crucial 1-0 lead at half-time.

Punjab FC responded immediately after the restart, with Luka Majcen setting up Ezequiel Vidal for an equalizer in the 46th minute. Undeterred, Jamshedpur FC pressed forward, nearly reclaiming the lead when Javi Hernandez unleashed a stunning volley from a Rei Tachikawa corner, only to be denied by a brilliant save from Punjab’s goalkeeper Muheet Shabir. The decisive moment came in the 84th minute. Nikhil Barla surged forward into the final third, delivering a pinpoint cross that Javi Siverio nodded home to seal the victory. With the win, Jamshedpur FC climbed to sixth position with just five points differentiating from the top spot.
Jamshedpur FC will face East Bengal FC in their next match on December 21st in away fixture.
