Shillong, February 18: Jamshedpur FC Reserves put on a spirited display to hold table-toppers NorthEast United FC to a 2-2 draw in a thrilling Reliance Foundation Development League (RFDL) Zonal Round encounter at Wahiajer Stadium. A brace from Bivan Jyoti Laskar ensured Jamshedpur FC secured a crucial point in a match that saw both teams play attacking football from the start. NorthEast United FC struck early, opening the scoring in just the third minute before Jamshedpur FC had time to settle. However, the team responded swiftly, with Bivan leveling the score in the sixth minute. A well-crafted move between Moirangthem Marjit and Lawmsangzuala set up Mama, who laid it off perfectly for Bivan to finish with precision. The match continued at a high tempo, with NorthEast United launching relentless attacks, but Jamshedpur’s defensive line stood firm. As the game progressed, Jamshedpur FC grew in confidence, with wingers Remson and Amzard creating multiple chances on the flanks. Zuala’s dribbling and high pressing kept the NorthEast United defense under pressure, while Bivan’s movement in the final third caused constant problems.

Jamshedpur took the lead in the 35th minute, with Remson delivering a precise ground cross from the right flank. Bivan made a well-timed run past the defenders and slotted home to put his team ahead. However, NorthEast United found their equalizer in the second half, capitalizing on a defensive miscommunication to score a scrappy goal. Jamshedpur pressed high for a winner in the final stages, with Remson coming closest when he found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper, only to see his effort saved. The winger later opted to pass to Bivan on another opportunity, but the forward failed to connect cleanly. Despite their late surge, Jamshedpur FC had to settle for a draw.

With this result, Jamshedpur FC remains in third place with 10 points from seven matches. They will now face second-placed Classic FA on February 22 in what promises to be another crucial encounter in the race for qualification to the National Championship.
