Jamshedpur, September 21, 2024 : Jharkhand’s Health and Food Supply Minister, Banna Gupta, conducted an inspection of the new MGM Hospital under construction at Dimna. Accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal, the minister closely reviewed the hospital’s progress and instructed the DC to resolve any ongoing challenges hindering the project. Speaking to the press after the inspection, Minister Gupta announced that the Outpatient Department (OPD) services at the new MGM Hospital would commence in October, allowing patients to start benefiting from the facility. He also shared that special instructions were given to address the hospital’s electricity and water supply issues. Furthermore, a ₹5 crore uncategorized fund has been allocated to cover essential resources for the hospital’s development.
Minister Gupta criticized the previous BJP government, accusing them of neglecting the MGM Hospital during their tenure, while now raising baseless questions. He emphasized that the new hospital will feature state-of-the-art services, including a 100-bed Critical Care Unit (CCU), a Cath Lab, a modern mortuary, and 731 total beds, of which 131 will be designated for the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). He also highlighted the ongoing construction of a 500-bed hospital in Sakchi, which will alleviate the shortage of beds and improve healthcare services in the region. The new facility will replace the outdated structure, which no longer meets the needs of the growing population.
Additionally, work on the 100-bed CCU care unit at the Dimna campus will begin soon. Minister Gupta took a jab at the opposition, stating that while they now critique the government’s efforts, they failed to make any improvements to MGM Hospital during their rule. He also mentioned that alongside the hospital, the Mango Flyover construction is progressing, solving two of Mango’s major issues: healthcare and traffic congestion.
Minister Gupta concluded by urging the opposition to reflect on their own tenure and the lack of reforms they brought to MGM Hospital, rather than making baseless statements.
