Jamshedpur, May 5, 2025: The East District Chess Association inaugurated the much-anticipated District Chess Championship today at 4 PM at the JRD Tata Sports Complex. The event witnessed the esteemed presence of Dr. Hassan Imam Malik, International Handball Coach and Sports Manager, as the Chief Guest, and Ms. Beeni Bhagat, Senior Sports Manager, as the Guest of Honour. District Chess Association Secretary Mr. Narendra Kumar Tiwari extended a warm welcome to all dignitaries and participants. This prestigious championship has drawn 204 players from across the district, showcasing the region’s growing enthusiasm for chess.
The tournament will run from May 5 to May 9, with the prize distribution ceremony scheduled for the evening of May 9. Prominent officials present at the event included Chief Arbiter Jayant Kumar Bhuiyan, along with Deputy Arbiters Chandan Kumar Prasad, Chiranjee Lal, Vishal Kumar Minz, Avadhesh Kumar Purvi Ghosh, and Manoj Pandey.
The event marks a significant step in promoting competitive chess in the district.
